2024 At Cybite and letter for 2025.

Wow, what a year!

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to Yahweh for the opportunity to experience life in all its faces—winning, fighting, failing, and ultimately winning again.

Reflecting on 2024, I remember how it all began so smoothly for us at Cybite. We secured our first physical hub on the island, marking a significant milestone in our journey. But let me take you back to the beginning of this story—how Cybite came to life.

In August 2023, I faced a challenging time when my e-commerce website, Nebestore, was hacked. The company I had dedicated two years of my life to building crumbled right before my eyes. It was a frustrating experience, one that left me searching for answers that are yet to be answered. That moment brought me to a crossroads where I doubted my path; I considered giving up on entrepreneurship altogether and getting a traditional job, questioning if the struggles were just proof that entrepreneurship wasn’t for me.

But everything changed in October 2023. Some friends came to visit, and I took the opportunity to escort them to my now co-founder Uyi’s house. Before that day, I had been cooking my next startup, born from the frustration I felt after Nebestore’s downfall. I recognized a significant gap in the tech landscape I wanted to fill, especially around finding a dedicated team that shared my vision of building the Pinduoduo of Africa.

As we made our way back from Uyi's house, I asked my cofounder, Uyi who had a small tech training to join forces with me. The very next day, we wasted no time—starting with the design of our logo. I shared my concept, and Uyi brought it to life, creating what would become our now-famous design.

However, our journey was not without its hurdles. Shortly after securing a physical facility on the island, opposite Broad Street the financial capital of Lagos, we faced another setback—losing that property. While I can't go into details, it felt like we were back to square one by January 2024. But instead of giving up, we pivoted our focus entirely online. February was particularly slow; at one point, we lost our first student, which was sad.

Throughout that period, I continually emphasized our need for structure in our meetings. Then, in March, things started to shift. We signed up a new student and, in the same month, secured another physical facility in Isolo. Our work began to gain recognition, and we were featured in The Guardian Nigeria.

In 2024 our team expanded from just two people to five, and we successfully trained 35 students—though we still have a long way to go toward our ambitious goal of reaching 3 million students in three years. Nevertheless, it’s a promising start.

Our most significant achievement of 2024 came in December

With that, I am proud to announce the opening of our new hub in the heart of Yaba at (32-34 Barikisu Iyede st, off Unilag Road, Akoka, Lagos 101212, Lagos). As we step into 2025, I am excited and anticipated. Watching people succeed in tech has always been my passion, and now I get to make it my life's work. I can't wait to empower even many more individuals in the year ahead!
